Devlog #1
Hi!
Favourite Cousin is a team of two cousins and this here is our first game ever. We've been talking about developing a game for a long time and finally we've got this far. All thanks to the local Latvian game-jam Mazais BRSD which was the main factor for actually start doing things.
The topic of the jam was The Final Hour, so the first thing we did after the online stream was brainstorm. After few beers and some crappy ideas we agreed on a concept of an explosive clock the player needs to smack in the final hour to diffuse. We thought it could be a nice, simple rage game.
As Toms is an artist and Kaspars is a coder, our job assignments were quite a no-brainer.
Toms made all the 3D assets in Blender. At first there were some issues with Blender --> Unity workflow, especially the animations, but eventually it was solved. Praise Google and the game-dev community!
Kaspars made all the scripts in C# for Unity. And, yes, there were a lot of bugs, but Kaspars somehow (magic?) managed to fix them.
Another issue is that both of us have full-time jobs... we both had deadlines at work, so the game didn't get the attention we had in our minds.
However, here is our submission and we're quite proud of it. Because it's so cool to see your creations come together as an actual game.
After the Mazais BRSD live stream we actually got our first feedback from the host, so now we're working on some updates to make the game better. At this moment Kaspars is trying to summon a script for global high-scores. And maaaybe we should make the clocksmacking a little easier...
So stay tuned!
P. S. The soundtrack and SFX were recorded by Toms. Sometimes all you need is just an electric guitarr. No neighbors were harmed during the record.
Peace,
Favourite Cousin
